Bow Valley Food Alliance Social Media Policy

Using Social Media, the Bow Valley Food Alliance strives to join conversations with real people, post accurate and relevant content, and serve as a source of reliable and trustworthy information for our community. Our goal is to foster a safe environment of respect and learning, both online and in person. We respond to feedback with respect and courtesy, and request our those in our community do the same.

Permission to Share

We encourage our community to share content with us, such as photos and stories of their experiences with the Bow Valley Food Alliance. We assume that anyone sharing content with us has the right to do so and has permission of the photographed individuals. We will do everything possible to not post photos which we do not have permission to post, including photos of children without the permission of a parent or guardian.

Offensive Comments

While we openly welcome and encourage constructive feedback, we reserve the right to remove any comments that are inappropriate due to foul language, offensive toward a single person or group, unsupported accusations, or spam that explicitly promotes a product or service. We reserve the right to ban repeat offenders. If there are any concerns from our community with the content we post, we are open to having a constructive conversation with those concerned.

Posting on Behalf of the Organization

We will strive to engage in civil discourse. We will be responsible for what we write and what we post. Our use of social media sites is governed by our mission, by good judgment, and by common sense. In general, we will tell our stories responsibly and not write or post anything that would reflect poorly on the Bow Valley Food Alliance or other members of our community.

Social Media Guidelines

  1. Checking sources. We strive to share, post, and re-post accurate information.

  2. Citing sources. To avoid plagiarism, if we are sharing or re-posting someone else’s content, we will ask permission and cite our sources. Also refer to our “Permission to Share” policy above.

  3. Considering our audience. Our community represents diverse experiences, beliefs, and values. We will be mindful of all audiences when posting. Our content should be appropriate, inclusive, and respectful to all our community members.

  4. Listening. We listen to what our community says, thank them for their input, and respond when possible.

  5. Using spellcheck. We strive to be thought leaders, so correct spelling and grammar is essential. We will triple check our work, and have a colleague proofread when appropriate.
